Volunteer
MASH relies on our volunteer supporters to help us meet the needs of the families we serve. Whether you can assist us on a regular basis or have only a day, or an hour, there are volunteer opportunities to suit your schedule.
Below is a list of the many opportunities for you to help your fellow neighbor.
Volunteer at a Special Event: Assist us with a special event, like our annual summer “Iron Chef” & Auction for Action Fundraiser. This is a fun event, and volunteer opportunities are available for several weeks around the time of the event, or even just to help the day of it. Groups from schools, churches, or clubs or individuals are welcome! Please call the MASH office if you are interested.
Coordinate support at your company, school, church, or club: Organize a fundraising or volunteer day with your school friends, co-workers, congregation, or fellow club members. Sponsor a “Dress Down Day” at school or at work, hold a homelessness awareness day to provide information and solicit donations, hold a dance, lunch, or other event to raise awareness and funds to help homeless families in our community through MASH. People love to help…they just need to be asked. If you need help with information on MASH or homelessness in America or our community or with coordination of the even – MASH can help!
Help with Shelter Maintenance: Are you a handyman (or handywomen) at heart? We can always use help with small repairs, maintenance, light carpentry, painting, and other small tasks at our shelter units. We are very flexible in terms of timing, and appreciate the help of anyone with skills and time to share! School clubs, Scout troops, church groups and others in our community sometimes volunteer for a morning or a day to help with tasks – please call us if you are interested!
Maybe you have your own idea for a way to help a family facing homelessness, or recently re-housed. Call us to talk about it! Please contact MASH at (860) 245-0222 or mash@mashshelter.org.
Thanks for anything you can do to help!
